Celine Dion - Seduces Me

Song: Seduces Me
Artist: Celine Dion
Album: Falling Into You
Genre: Pop-Rock
Year: 1996

There was a time when Celine Dion did great albums, full of emotions and personal compositions; very different from what she has done on the past years. D'eux album is simply exceptional (it's the best-selling French album of all time), and this one has some songs that must be heard, love tracks above all.

Edwin Starr - War

Song: War
Artist: Edwin Starr
Album: War
Genre: Soul
Year: 1970

I think this was the most know hit by Edwin Start but he didn't compose it (Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong are the only responsibles), even though he contributed with his voice and personal staging (which ,sometimes, is even more important than any other thing - current pop world takes care of it - ).

Each time I listen to it I remember the funny Rush Hour's scene where Chris Tucker is teaching Jackie Chan how to sing it right... memorable.

The White Stripes - Black Math

Song: Black Math
Artist: The White Stripes
Album: Elephant
Genre: Rock
Year: 2003

I know this track is quite old (three years from now) and some of you are tired of hearing it, but I wanted to post it anyway. A continued drums base - with no change at all - and a full distorted guitar is quite enough to do an energized noise, something thet some people didn't believe it could be possible to do it withouth a bass... until they came.

José González - Crosses

Song: Crosses
Artist: José González
Album: Veneer
Genre: Folk
Year: 2003

Most people know his Sony Bravia advert song, but Jose Gonzalez is much more. He is a great talented composer with an extremely first-class album that you should be taken easy ,and listened slowly, to notice all its richness.

Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune

Song: Clair de Lune
Artist: Claude Debussy
Album: Piano works
Genre: Classical
Year: 1995 (originally from 1890)

Let's not forget classical music because it's our musical history. Let's not forget those key compositions that will last forever. Like Debussy's Suite Bergamasque, where we could find one of his most popular pieces. It has been used almost for anything - for example, on the Ocean's Eleven 2001 film ending scene -.

Ag this post it is not the piano solo version, but the orchestral one.

Des'ree - I'm Kissing You

Song: I'm Kissing You
Artist: Des'ree
Album: Supernatural
Genre: Pop-Rock
Year: 1998

What a voice this woman owns! She can even hug your sould while she sings this sad song. The ones in charge of Romeo And Juliet (I do not recommend watching it) soundtrack did a great job choosing it.

Dover - Let Me Out

Song: Let Me Out
Artist: Dover
Album: Follow The City Lights
Genre: Alternative Rock
Year: 2006

What a huge change! Even though your lasts albums have been a comercial disaster... do you think that your fans will understand that now you use synthesizers on your new poppy music style, when you where a hard-rocker just a few years ago? I think the song is not that bad (but quite a little bit repetitive).

Seal - Human Beings

Song: Human Beings
Artist: Seal
Album: Human Being
Genre: Pop-Rock
Year: 1998

Don't you feel well-being when you listen to a tune that makes you feel alive? When a song makes you sing - even shout - its lyric on an on? That's what happens to me with this track.

I know that this album wasn't as exceptional as the two ones he did before but it has some wonderful moments, as this song's chorus. Close your eyes, relax, push play and enjoy.

Jeff Mills - Exhibitionist

Song: Exhibitionist
Artist: Jeff Mills
Album: Exhibitionists
Genre: Electronic, Techno
Year: 2004

Yesterday night I was on Danzoo for an exceptional live session from Jeff Mills, one of the legendary Underground Resistance founders, and music is still buzzing on my ears! I thought it would be a great chance to post this hole album (it couldn't be posted just one song because it's a hole continue mix).

Catherine Wheel - Sparks Are Gonna Fly

Song: Sparks Are Gonna Fly
Artist: Catherine Wheel
Album: Wishville
Genre: Rock
Year: 2000

Fifth and final album for this band, after 10 years playing together, where we could recover this track. I don't like too much other compositions from them, but this one is not that bad.

Faithless - Mass Destruction

Song: Mass Destruction
Artist: Faithless
Album: No Roots
Genre: Electronic, Trip-Hop
Year: 2004

From one song with message from another, brilliantly rapped by Maxi Jazz. Superb single from their last studio album (with an excelent video too). I have to say I've seen them live twice: when their tour came to Madrid (a concert that I'll never forget: just awesome!) and at Creamfields Andalucia '05.

Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle

Song: Welcome To The Jungle
Artist: Guns N' Roses
Album: Appetite For Destruction
Genre: Hard-Rock
Year: 1987

Time changes... society evolves. But do you really think so? If you do, take a closer look to this track and its video too. Then change the images showed on it by some random that you could find on any tv-news today. Does it makes a difference? I guess no.

Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage!

Song: Danger! High Voltage!
Artist: Electric Six
Album: Fire
Genre: Alternative Rock, Disco
Year: 2003

It's quite difficult to catalogue this track on just one genre. It's clearly seen that it has a rock base but, as you listen to it, you just want to break dance stage moving your feet!

You also may take a look to their controversial track Gay Bar. I might imagine it irritated american politicians XD.

Queen - Princes Of The Universe

Song: Princes Of The Universe
Artist: Queen
Album: A Kind Of Magic
Genre: Tock
Year: 1986

Last 5th September, it would have been Freddie Mercury's 60th anniversary. And here, I would like to make a small tribute for him. Do you imagine how rock music would be right now if he had not died? I think it would be quite different, because Queen would have evolved even more, incluencing everything! But I guess we'll never know the answer to that question.

Although my favourite Queen's album is Innuendo, I love this track. As you can see, it was used on Highlander soundtrack.

Nicola Conte - Kind Of Sunshine

Song: Kind Of Sunshine
Artist: Nicola Conte
Album: Other Directions
Genre: Ambient, Jazz, Bossa
Year: 2006

Some months ago I posted some tracks (first, second) that clearly mixed ambient/electronic with tango music. Now it's time for Acid Jazz and Bossa! The perfect background music when you are talking with your friends on a chill bar.

The Three Tenors - Nessun Dorma

Song: Nessun Dorma
Artist: The Three Tenors
Album: Three Tenors in Concert 1994
Genre: Classical, Opera
Year: 1994

I have not seen yet any better performance for one of the bests arias ever. I guess there will not be a better opera trio than Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti (with no classify order, each one has it's preferences). The in crescendo verses just gives the creeps!

Il principe ignoto

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! Tu pure, o Principessa,
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò,
quando la luce splenderà!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio
che ti fa mia.

Voci di donne
Il nome suo nessun saprà...
E noi dovrem, ahimè, morir, morir!

Il principe ignoto

Dilegua, o notte! Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle! All'alba vincerò!
Vincerò! Vincerò!

Tori Amos - '97 Bonnie And clyde

Song: '97 Bonnie and Clyde
Artist: Tori Amos
Album: Strange Little Girls
Genre: Alternative Rock
Year: 2001

After posting yesterday the Gainsbourg's Bonnie and Clyde song, I've remembered that I have other tracks with the same title. This was the first one that came to my mind, maybe 'cause I find it a very interesting song. Why? Because it's clearely shown how different can be performed the same song depending on the artist (it's original from Eminem's The slim Shady LP (1999)), and I love this version.

Serge Gainsbourg Et Brigitte Bardot - Bonnie And Clyde

Song: Bonnie And Clyde
Artist: Serge Gainsbourg Et Brigitte Bardot
Album: Bonnie And Clyde
Genre: Folk, French
Year: 1967

How could he explain this story condensed in one song wich such brilliance? This man is a true poet. And helped with one of the 50's sex symbols... what else could you ask for? Admirable lyrics:

Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde.

Quelle importanc' qu'ils me fassent la peau. Moi Bonnie, je tremble pour Clyde Barrow. Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie and Clyde.
