Song: Tank!
Artist: Yoko Kanno (The Seatbelts)
Album: Cowboy Bebop
Genre: Jazz, Anime
Year: 1998I still haven't found any song from Joko Kanno (菅野 よう子) that I don't love. All her solo compositions and the ones she does when she's in The Seatbelts (シートベルツ) [wiki] are amazing. All the anime-soundtracks she has composed blows up my mind (Wolf's Rain [wiki], Ghost In The Shell [wiki], Cowboy Bebop [wiki], ...). I would like to be in one of her concerts, but Japan is so far from Spain...

Genesis - The Fountain of Salmacis
Song: The Fountain of Salmacis
Artist: Genesis
Album: Nursery Cryme
Genre: Rock
Year: 1971Long time ago, before Phil Collins [wiki] became the singer-leader of the band, Peter Gabriel [wiki] was the meaning-face for them. You can see that the music-style is very different from the one they will play later.

If you can see between the long hair of the drummer-man, you'll realize a centered and young Phil Collins.

Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
Song: Intergalactic
Artist: Beastie Boys
Album: Hello Nasty
Genre: Hip-Hop
Year: 1998As you already know (if you've followed this blog), I don't like Hip-Hop quite much. But this song... is special. Maybe because since the first time I heard it on radio when I was young, I loved it.

The original music video was really funny [YouTube link], but I wanted to post this one: it's from a Dj Shadow [wiki] live session. He suddenly stops his electronic session and puts this song, while the original band is singing it and he is mixing and scratching. Great idea.

Rinôçérôse - Bitch
Song: Bitch
Artist: Rinôçérôse
Album: Schizophonia
Genre: Electronic, Alternative Rock
Year: 2005This has been one of my last acquisitions, and I can't me more happy. I really love this band, how the ymix those genres (electronic with rock) and how the enjoy composing. A new tasty sound for me... but a long career for this band (since 1994).

I'm really sorry for the video quality posted. I know it's horrible, but it has something in favour: you can see that the singer is a real showman!

Bill Conti - Gonna Fly Now
Song: Gonna Fly Now
Artist: Bill Conti
Album: Rocky Soundtrack
Genre: Soundtrack, Score
Year: 1976Today, it's a melancholic post. I've recently know that on December '06 it will be launched the last (and sixth: I guess there are too much) Rocky [wiki | imdb] film. So, I've been a while remembering how exceptional Bill Conti's [wiki | imdb] soundtracks are (he will compose the last one too).

Hey! The first Rocky movie was a great film, no matter what they say...

Robbie Williams - Let Love Be Your Energy
Song: Let Love Be Your Energy
Artist: Robbie Williams
Album: Sing When You're Winning
Genre: Pop-Rock
Year: 2000I'm proud of this man. Yes, I am. Why? Well, when he was at Take That [wiki] (one of those prefabricated bands, in my own opinion, that I just can't bear at all) he was considered as the last one in the queue. It's interesting to see what happened when he rip off: the split of the band became a reality. And which one has been successful continuing his solo-career?

Album: Eco
Genre: Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Spanish
Year: 2005This Uruguayan composer has been in everyone's mind since his Academy Awards [wiki] "Best Original Song" nomination (and winner) [link] for Motorcycle Diaries [imdb] song. Yes, he is a great composer. Check out this track and it's lyrics (if you do not understand spanish, get the translation. It worths your time).

Wolfmother - Woman
Song: Woman
Artist: Wolfmother
Album: Wolfmother
Genre: Rock
Year: 2006When I listened this band for the first time (on the last ipod+iTunes ad [link]) I thought I was listening to a Led Zeppelin's [wiki] unknown song. Fortunately, I was wrong: there's a new big band in town.

Song: Diferente
Artist: Gotan Project
Album: Lunático
Genre: Tango, Ambient, Chill
Year: 1994I know it was just three post ago since I talked about a song from this band... but I'm hooked on them. Check out this amazing song from their last album, and its video too (incredible mirror-effect)

Snow Patrol - You're All I Have
Song: You're All I Have
Artist: Snow Patrol
Album: Eyes Open
Genre: Alternative Rock
Year: 2006Do you believe in love at first sight? After listening this album... I do. I thought it could be difficult for them to improve the hight quality exposed on their previous album, but this defies anything I could imagine about what they could be able to do. The hole album, from the begining 'till the end, is just incredible (and I take no risk when I assure that this will be one of the '06 most selling albums).

Trust Company - Stronger
Song: Stronger
Artist: Trust Company
Album: True Parallels
Genre: Alternative, Punk-Rock
Year: 2005There was a time when neo-punk-rock bands appeared everywhere, but now it has calmed down (a little bit). And you can see which one of them were great bands and which where intentionally formed. This band belongs to the first one.
