Song: I Want Yoy

(Amazon.com link)Sometimes, some tracks pass unnoticed the first time you hear an album. But if the song is special, somehow sooner or later you'll listen to it. And I'm so glad for that, because if not I would never had heard this amazing song.
Previous Song: Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On
I've discovered a tune deserving to be considered on the same level as many Barry White's tracks are. And that's not easy at all.
I want you the right way. I want you, but I want you to want me too. Want you to want me, baby, just like I want you.
I give you all the love I want in return sweet darlin', but half a love is all I feel. It's too bad, It's just too sad. You don't want me now. but I'm gonna change your mind. Someway, somehow,oh baby.
This one way loveis just a fantasy, oh sugar. To share is precious, pure and fair. Don't play with something you should cherish for life,oh baby. Don't you wanna care? Ain't it lonley out there?

Archive - Pulse
Song: Pulse
Artist: Archive
Album: Noise
Genre: Trip-Hop
Year: 2004
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)Is this trip-hop to extreme? This band has become a reference for me on this genre with just five studio albums, a movie soundtrack and an unplugged performance. And this track from their fourth studio album shows what they can do: there are so many nuances along 4:50 minutes that you have to listen the tune too many times for being able to notice all it's richness.
Previous Post: Archive - System
Help! In this Junk I'm drowning. How long? Til I sell my mother? So I become important to you in this junk, drowning.
How long? Til I sell my mother? Must I tolerate your shit, dwell in your shallow pit. Now the thought police are following me everywhere. Eyes are always on your children.

(Amazon.com link)Saturday night: time to party. You drive to your favourite club and... oh! look who's djing tonight: the S-Man!
Previous Song: Roger Sanchez - Lost
An incredible live session the one he performed this last saturday at Sunflowers, Madrid (Spain). I guess you'll imagine how much I enjoyed it with this video XD.
As you can see, the lyric is one of the less important things from this track:
If I had another chance tonight, I'd try to tell you that the things we had were right.

Gary Jules - Mad World
Song: Mad World
Artist: Gary Jules
Album: Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets
Genre: Rock
Year: 2001
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)I did't realize five years ago that this album was released. I've not seen Donnie Darko film, and I've not heard it's soundtrack, so I had no idea about this Tears for Fears cover existence. But I do have seen the spot of Gears of War (wow!).
All around me are familiar faces. Worn out places, worn out faces. Bright and early for the daily races going nowhere. Their tears are filling up their glasses. No expression. Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow. No tomorrow.
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad. The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had. I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take. When people run in circles it's a very very mad world.
Children waiting for the day they feel good. Happy Birthday. And I feel the way that every child should sit and listen. Went to school and I was very nervous. no one knew me. Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson, look right through me.

Song: Sewn
Artist: The Feeling
Album: Twelve Stops And Home
Genre: Pop-Rock
Year: 2006
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)It's possible to make a hit with a simple song, and this guys showed how to do it. A catchy chorus, a common subject loved by audience and a sweet melody. Doesn't it looks too easy?
Give me the song and I'll sing it like I mean it. Give me the words and I'll say them like I mean it. 'Cause you got my heart in a headlock, you stopped the blood and made my head soft. And God knows
you got me sewn..
Danny boy, don’t be afraid, to shake that ass, and misbehave. Danny boy, I now you got time, but what are you waiting for. Anyway the dust may just blow away, if you wait for a windy day, but you may find the chance has passed you by;
I can't do the walk. I can't do the talk. I can't be your friend unless I pretend.
So give me the song and I'll sing it like I mean it. So give me the words and I'll say them like I mean it. 'Cause you got my heart in a headlock. You stopped the blood and made my head soft. And God knows you've got me sewn.
Danny boy, don’t be a fool take upon to break the rule. Danny boy your lookin so low, you lookin like the dead grown old. Anyway the blues may just wash away, if you wait for a rainy day, but you may find the chance had passed you by.
I can't do the walk. I can't do the talk. I can't be your friend unless I pretend. So give me the song and I'll sing it like I mean it. Give me the words and I'll say them like I mean it. 'Cause you got my heart in a headlock. You stopped the blood and made my head soft. You've got my heart in a headlock. You stopped the blood and made my head soft,

Queen - Son And Daughter
Song: Son And Daughter
Artist: Queen
Album: At The Beeb
Genre: Rock
Year: 1972
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)Are you fond of this band? Are you one of his fans? If you do, then you know where is this song from. In case you don't, take a look. Isn't it incredible that this track could be just a b-side and not a main song from one of their eighteen albums?
And, as usual, a live performance to be remembered.
I want you to be a woman.
Tried to be a son and daughter rolled into one. You said you'd equal any man for having your fun. Now didn't you feel surprised to find the cap just didn't fit? The world expects a man to buckle down and to shovel shit. What'll you do for loving when it's only just begun? I want you to be a woman.
Tried to be a teacher and a fisher of men, an equal people preacher. Will you lead us all the same? Well, I travelled all round the world, a brand new word for day, watching the time mustn't linger behind. Pardon me, I have to get away. What'll you think of heaven if it's back from where you came? I want you to be a woman.

Peter Gabriel - Here Comes The Flood
Song: Here Comes The Flood
Artist: Peter Gabriel
Album: Peter Gabriel (I or Car)
Genre: Rock
Year: 1977
(Official web)
(Wiki) (Last.fm)
(Amazon.com)Risky flight this man took when he left Genesis, but it was a safe one. Why? He just had to do what he already knew: sit down and create. And this is the result: a great first solo album with a superb final song.
Previous song: Genesis - The Fountain of Salmacis
When the night shows, the signals grow on radios. All the strange things they come and go, as early warnings. Stranded starfish have no place to hide, still waiting for the swollen easter tide. Theres no point in direction we cannot even choose a side.
I took the old track, the hollow shoulder, across the waters. On the tall cliffs they were getting older, sons and daughters. The jaded underworld was riding high, Waves of steel hurled metal at the sky, and as the nail sunk in the cloud, the rain was warm and soaked the crowd.
Lord, here comes the flood. Well say goodbye to flesh and blood. If again the seas are silent in any still alive I'tll be those who gave their island to survive. Drink up, dreamers, youre running dry.
When the flood calls you have no home, you have no walls. In the thunder crash you're a thousand minds, within a flash. Don't be afraid to cry at what you see. The actors gone, theres only you and me. And if we break before the dawn, theyll use up what we used to be.

Morrissey - Life Is A Pigsty
Title: Life Is A Pigsty
Artist: Morrissey
Album: Ringleader Of The Tormentors
Genre: Alternative
Year 2006
(Official Web)
(Wiki) (Last.fm)
(Amazon.com)Lack of love history over-exaggerated (the word pigsty doesn't fits on this situation, couldn't he had chosen another one?), but exposed with an incredible composition. The fact that drums and bass keep the same tempo all over the song while it's singer's voice the one who carries rhythm (with a sweet piano on background), accompanied with some fx perfectly chosen (rain, thunders,...), have achieved that It has been included on my usual listened playlist. On the other hand, we must admint that maybe the song is too long (7:22); five minutes should have had been enough.
It’s the same old S.O.S. but with brand new broken fortunes. And once again I turn to you.
It’s the same old S.O.S. but with brand new broken fortunes. I’m the same underneath, but this you surely knew. Life is a pigsty.
And if you don’t know this, then what do you know? Every second of my life I only live for you. And you can shoot me, and you can throw me off a train. I still maintain life is a pigsty.
And I’d been shifting gears all along my life, but I’m still the same underneath. This you surely knew, I can’t reach you anymore.
Can you please stop time? Can you stop the pain? I feel too cold and now I feel too warm again.
Can you stop this pain? Even now in the final hour of my life I’m falling in love again.

Coldplay - Easy To Please
Song: Easy To Please
Artist: Coldplay
Album: A Rush Of B-Sides To The Head (unofficial)
Genre: Alternative Rock
Year: 1998
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)Don't try to find this album on stores, because you won't find it (try "the other way"). It's a unofficial collection of all the b-sides from Coldplay's EPs (in case you are interested, this song is from Brothers & Sisters EP).
It's interesting to discover that even some not-album songs are better than any other song from an entire studio album (for example - and we have not to look much farther - X&Y).
Love, I hope we get old, I hope we can find a way of seeing it all.
Love, I hope we can be, I hope I can find a way of letting you see that Im so easy to please, so easy.
Love; I hope we grow old, I hope we can find a way of seeing it all.
Love; I hope we can be, I hope I can find a way of letting you see that Im so easy to please, so easy.

Shirley Bassey - Where Do I Begin (AwayTeam Mix)
Song: April Fools (AwayTeam Mix)
Artist: Shirley Bassey
Album: The Remix Album: Diamonds Are Forever
Genre: Soul, Electronic
Year: 2001
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)This is a great example why old songs fit together on the perfect way with new technologies. Just - quoting Wikipedia - the voice of "the woman who has performed the most James Bond themes" (check out the movie intros from Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker) from her classic track but with a new background. I just love it!
The track was picked from the incredible Stephane Pompougnac's chill album Hotel Costes Vol. 3, Etage 3.
Where do I begin? To tell the story of how great a love can be, the sweet love story that is older than the sea,the simple truth about the love he brings to me. Where do I start?
Like a summer rain that cools the pavement with a patent leather shine, he came into my life and made the living fine, and gave a meaning to this empty world of mine. He fills my heart.
He fills my heart with very special things. With angels songs, with wild imaginings. He fills my soul with so much love that anywhere I go, I'm never lonely. With him along, who could be lonely? I reach for his hand, it's always there.
How long does it last? Can love be measured by the hours in a day? I have no answers now, but this much I can say: I'm going to need him till the stars all burn away, and he'll be there.
Here you have the video that was made for this remix.

Artist: Gnarls Barkley
Album: St. Elsewhere
Genre: R&B
Year: 2006
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)I don't know why this group loves to make different videos from the same song, but I love it. At this time, there are three different videos from this song:
Previous post: Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
What did you do? What did you say? Did you walk or did you run away? Where are you know? Where have you been? Did you go alone or did you find a friend? I need to know this 'coz I noticed I’m just smiling. How can the sun have any fun feeling free? And I can tell you know how hard this life can be, but you keep on smiling for me.
So what went right? What went wrong? Was it a story or was it a song? Was it over night or did it take you long? Was knowing your weakness what made you strong? For all the above, oh how I love to see you smiling. And, oh yeah, take a little pain just incase. You need something want to embrace, to help you put on a smiley face.
Don’t you go off into the new day without getting down? Here’s a summary of something you get sad about. Say for instance my girlfriend she bugs me all the time, but the irony of it all is that she loves me all the time. Oh, see.
I believe whenever I see you smiling 'coz, excuse me, one of the hardest things to do, your worries and fears become your friends and they end up smiling at you.

Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should Have Come Over
Song: Lover, You Should Have Come Over
Artist: Jeff Buckley
Album: Grace
Genre: Alternative Rock
Year: 1994
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)Poetry made lyric, poetry made sounds, poetry made music. Sung from the heart, straight to your heart and soul. No more words needed.
Looking out the door I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners. Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water. And maybe Im too young to keep good love from going wrong, but tonight youre on my mind so you'll never know.
When Im broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it, where are you tonight? Child you know how much I need it. Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run.
Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun, and much too blind to see the damage hes done. Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one.
So Ill wait for you... and I'll burn. Will I ever see your sweet return? Oh, will I ever learn? Oh, lover, you should've come over 'cause its not too late.
Lonely is the room, the bed is made, the open window lets the rain in. Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him. My body turns and yearns for a sleep that will never come.
Its never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder. Its never over, all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her. Its never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter. Its never over, shes the tear that hangs inside my soul forever.
Well maybe Im just too young. To keep good love from going wrong. Oh... lover, you should've come over cause its not too late.
Well I feel too young to hold on and Im much too old to break free and run. Too deaf, dumb, and blind to see the damage Ive done. Sweet lover, you shouldve come over. Oh, love well Im waiting for you. Lover, you should've come over cause its not too late.
Here you have a live performance. Too sad that he'll never do anyother again.

(Amazon.com link)About a year ago I posted how much this album had impressed me. After such a long time, there are some posible situations:
Which one do you think are my thoughts right now? If you are not sure, listen to the track. The solution lies beneath music.
I fell in love again (all things go). drove to Chicago (all things know). We sold our clothes to the state (I don't mind). I made a lot of mistakes in my mind.
You came to take us (all things go) to recreate us (all things grow). We had our mindset (all things know), you had to find it (all things go).
I drove to New York in a van, with my friend. We slept in parking lots, I don't mind. I was in love with the place in my mind. I made a lot of mistakes in my mind.
You came to take us (all things go) to recreate us (all things grow). We had our mindset (all things know), you had to find it (all things go).
if I was crying in the van, with my friend. It was for freedom from myself and from the land. I made a lot of mistakes.
You came to take us (all things go) to recreate us (all things grow). We had our mindset (all things know), you had to find it (all things go).

Supertramp - Fool's Overture
Song: Fool's Overture
Artist: Supertramp
Album: Even in the Quitiest Moments
Genre: Rock
Year: 1977
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)This is not only an huge talented song (more than 10 minutes showing their tremendous composition skills) from one of those bands that have been, at least for me, a key on music evolution (even though, quoting Wikipedia, they where "the best-selling group in the world whose members could walk down any street and not be recognised")... this is my favourite song from them. Live specially.
History recalls how great the fall can be. While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea. Borne on the wings of time, It seemed the answers were so easy to find. "Too late," the prophets cry, the island's sinking, let's take to the sky. Called the man a fool, stripped him of his pride, everyone was laughing up until the day he died and though the wound went deep still he's calling us out of our sleep. My friends, we're not alone, he waits in silence to lead us all home.
So tell me that you find it hard to grow... Well I know, I know, I know. And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow... Well I know, I know, I know.
Can you hear what I'm saying? Can you see the parts that I'm playing?. "Holy Man, Rocker Man, Come on Queenie, Joker Man, Spider Man, Blue Eyed Meanie" So you found your solution. What will be your last contribution? "Live it up, rip it up, why so lazy? Give it out, dish it out, let's go crazy, Yeah!"

Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning
Song: Woke Up This Morning
Artist: Alabama 3
Album: Exile On Coldharbour Lane
Genre: Rock
Year: 1997
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)Yesterday I started watching The Sopranos for the first time (I tried to do it for a long time, but I was always busy with other tasks or hooked on other serials). I have just seen the first episode and I have great expectations about what it can offer (taking a look at the awards it has won, I guess I'm right).
You woke up this morning, got yourself a gun. Mama always said you'd be the Chosen One. She said: you're one in a million, you've got to burn to shine. But you were born under a bad sign, with a blue moon in your eyes.
You woke up this morning, all the love has gone. Your Papa never told you about right and wrong. But you're looking good, baby, I believe you're feeling fine, (shame about it). Born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes.
You woke up this morning, the world turned upside down. Thing's ain't been the same since the Blues walked into town. But you're one in a million, you've got that shotgun shine. Born under a bad sign, with a blue moon in your eyes.
When you woke up this morning everything you had was gone. By half past ten your head was going ding-dong. Ringing like a bell from your head down to your toes, like a voice telling you there was something you should know. Last night you were flying but today you're so low - ain't it times like these that make you wonder if you'll ever know the meaning of things as they appear to the others; wives, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Don't you wish you didn't function, wish you didn't think beyond the next paycheck and the next little drink' Well you do so make up your mind to go on, 'cos when you woke up this morning everything you had was gone.

Concrete Blonde - Jenny I Read
Song: Jenny I Read
Artist: Concrete Blonde
Album: Mexican Moon
Genre: Alternative Rock
Year: 1993
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)I discovered Jonhette Napolitano at Underworld soundtrack. Then I discovered that she had been on a band for years, and I started listening to their music. What did I found? This marvelous song: excellent composition, plenty emotional on stage and some lyrics full of irony (it suposed that it talks about the rise and fall of the fasion model Bettie Page).
Jenny I read something you said about rock and roll and life and death. Ah, Jenny I read they carried you home broken, beaten all alone. Oh, Jenny you said, Jenny you thought, give them all that they want, everything that you got. Oh, Jenny my dear, It's a wicked city. Once you're young, stupid and pretty. And all the angry young boys (and all the angry young girls) they're making angry loud noises (kicking back at the world). And all the angry young boys (and all the angry young girls).
Jenny they cried, Jenny they screamed, your picture in every magazine. Yeah, ya wanted it all but the American dream was nothing to write home about. She was the next big thing and the telephone was ringing all of the time. You were wined and dined every night. Then one day it was over and where are you now they wonder. And all the angry young boys (and all the angry young girls) they're making angry loud noises (kicking back at the the world). And all the angry young boys (and all the angry young girls).
Superstar, that's what you are, and all the angry young boys (and all the angry young girls) they're making angry loud noises (kicking back at the the world). And all the angry young boys (and all the angry young girls).
Behind their, their fingers, eyes aside in sharp little whispers. They say it's her. What happened to her. She knows this and she smiles. She doesn't look anything like her pictures. She used to be but she knows this and she smiles. For she has miles and miles of memories all to herself, everything in between then and now. And all her images of everything in between now and then and all they have are pictures.

Album: Any Minute Now
Genre: Electronic, Alternative Rock
Year: 2005

(Amazon.com link)From one side to another. If yesterday we posted a relaxed song, today it's time for not stop moving! These men truly know how to make you dance until dawn, so release your body! - but not as much as the people showed on the video XD -.
They also are known as 2ManyDj's, but when they use that surname the style played has nothing to do with this one. It's more like an electro-rock mash-up.

Craig Armstrong - This Love
Song: This Love
Artist: Craig Armstrong (feat. Liz Fraser)
Album: The Space Between Us
Genre: Electronic, Ambient, Orchestral
Year: 1998

(Amazon.com link)I think I shouldn't post this song... but I'll do. I shouldn't because it has nothing to do with my emotional feelings right now (usually, I post this kind of music when I'm going through something like that), but just because I feel fine when I'm listening to it. Nothing else matters. It's so sweet, so smooth, so calmed, so brilliant. It's such a masterpiece that if the world could stop spinning for you while you are listening to it... it would simply happen.

Kings Of Convenience - Failure

Artist: Kings Of Convenience
Album: Versus
Genre: Folk-Rock
Year: 2001

(Amazon.com link)I've not posted any song for six days because I've been on a trip with my friends. So, as a compensation for that, here's an sweet song from this brilliant duo (as much as those californian girls we meet on our journey).
I wonder when they'll publish their new album.

Rufus Wainwright - April Fools
Song: April Fools
Artist: Rufus Wainwright
Album: Rufus Wainwright
Genre: Folk-Rock
Year: 1998
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)The other day I read an article (spanish only) explaining where he comes from, which are his incluences, the meaning of some of his songs lyrics and, most important of all, why this man is a completely genius. I'm glad I found it, because now I'm able to appreciate on another level all his compositions.
Sing said once: "Rufus is out of time. He could have appeared on any music time but even so he would be that unique voice. He has something different to sing about".
Elton John said too: "I think that Rufus is the best composer on earth. He has no competence".
I do agree. I think that Rufus and Jeff Buckley are one of the most talented composers on his generation (taking apart that the second one is already dead).

George Michael - Flawless (Go To The City)
Song: Flawless (Go To The City)
Artist: George Michael
Album: Patience
Genre: Electronic, Dance
Year: 2003
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)George Michael started his last European tour (25 Live) on my country (Spain) at Barcelona. A few days later he came to my city (Madrid) but I couldn't go to see him live - what a pity - so I just can please myself watching some of the concert videos.
That's where I have discovered that he has chosen this song as the opening theme, and I think he couldn't have taken a better decision. It is such an effective track that the stage becomes a dancing floor and the crowd becomes completely crazy. It's even better than the original one (The Ones - Flawless)! Here you have a link to the performance.

Chris Cornell - Can't Change Me
Song: Can't Change Me
Artist: Chris Cornell
Album: Euphoria Morning
Genre: Rock
Year: 1999
(Artist official web)
(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)There are some explanations why his first solo album was such a commercial disaster, and I'm gonna give mine. It is not because of album's quality (which is quite well) but due to fan's expectations: the music exposed has nothing to do with Soundgarden's sound, and I guess that their fans where expecting that he would follow that kind of music on this album. I appreciate he didn't do it, because solo albums from a band-member should be those hidden nooks where an artist could express anything he wants, no matter what it is or the way it is done.

Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Withouth Honor Or Humanity
Song: Battle Withouth Honor Or humanity
Artist: Tomoyasu Hotei
Album: Electric Samurai
Genre: Instrumental
Year: 2004

(Wiki link) (Last.fm link)
(Amazon.com link)"Who the hell is 布袋 寅泰 (Tomomoyasu Hotei)? I've never heard of him!" You could say (excuse me those who know him).. but you are wrong! I'm sure you've seen Kill Bill Tarantino's movie, so you've heard one of his most famous songs. This is the scene where it is played, in case you don't remember it.
Talking about Kill Bill, I have to admit that it disappointed me a little bit. I was expecting a better movie (here you have the plot of the two movies, resumed on 120 seconds). None the less, it has some amazing parts, specificly the short anime explaining the origin of O-Ren (from Production I.G.).

Bronski Beat - Why?
As it's time for old song remixes on dance radio stations, I wanted to put the original track from Supermodel - Tell me why. If you usually tune in your local dance radio station, I'm sure you have listened to it. But what do you think about the one it is based on? I can imagine that it rocked on 80's as much as it is doing nowadays!
Song: Why?
Artist: Bronski Beat
Album: The Age Of Consent
Genre: Pop
Year: 1984
